David Bowie reacts to the whole Luella thing

"Luella Bartley, the Warwick-shire-born designer integral to the recent rejuvenation of British fashion, has become a surprise victim of the recession. Her eponymous label has been forced out of business after one of its main suppliers closed."

I know, David Bowie, this is sad news indeed.
In order to take your mind off it for a bit, here is Elizabeth's amazing recap of Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video. I probably don't need to tell you this (since I'm sure you already watched it a million times)but Gaga wears head to toe Alexander McQueen in it.

If there are two things that I like, it's Luella and McQueen.

If you'll excuse me, I'll be cramming as much Chaucer as I can in the next few hours. These next few weeks of school are going to be crazy - did I not just finish midterms like, two weeks ago? I still need to pick a thesis for my Comics and Cartoons essay.

(psst: I had one of my friends from high school write a short piece for Worn - about Victoire, no less! I love it when my worlds collide like that. You should check it out!)

right now.

Artwork by Charles Addams
I've definitely mentioned him before on this site, but he is a favorite of mine. At home we have a giant book of cartoons from the New Yorker that I love to flip through; his work is so funny in a creepy way and just slightly unsettling. (Plus I already had these pictures on my computer and I'm lazy).

The Boswell Sisters
Today when I should have been studying I worked on this scrapbook/epic zine I'm making for my best friend's birthday in December (I should post scans, y/y?) I've been listening to the Boswell Sisters as my soundtrack as I pursue the complicated task of cut and paste. It's a mellow break from dealing with stuff like my Astrophil and Stella essay (thinking gives you wrinkles!)
(I'm kidding, I swear.)

Being a Zombie for Worn's Slow Dance of the Living Dead

I'm terrifying, I know. My costume started off as being Edie Sedgewick inspired and then ended up....somewhere else? (For the record, I had tights and dangly earrings). Like I said, I am lazy. I did find an Andy Warhol to dance with during the Velvet Underground's Chelsea Girls, though.

More Wornettes from that night:

The last one is copy editor Kate - and yes, she happens to be covering Issue Nine. It's quite a good issue, if I do say so myself (doesn't it remind you of a Sassy cover?) and it happens to be on sale now at the Worn website. Hintedy hint hint.

Updates later, Betty Boop cartoons from the 1930's now

I have to do an essay for my Comics and Cartoons class and still haven't picked a thesis statement, but I think it's going to involve Ms. Boop here.

Recap of Teen Vogue's Fashion U to be posted - soon? Pardon me, lovely readers, I am in the middle of midterms (wish me luck, y/y?)
Until then, here's a photo I took at the blogging seminar. Hannah (left), was my partner in crime attending the seminars (and sharing an elevator with Derek Lam!) whereas Julia and the always awesome Belle were actually teaching the seminar, because they're superstars and all.
